MathExcel Programs

Fall Program (Math 113, Calculus I)

All Calculus I courses consist of a lecture section (MA 113) which meets three days per week, and a recitation section (MA 193). Non-Excel sections consist of two meetings of 75 minutes each with a one teaching assistant in sections of approximately 30 students. Excel sections consist of three meetings of 2 hours each with one workshop leader and two undergraduate assistants. The undergraduate assistants are often students who have participated in MathExcel in a previous year. During the workshops, students work on a list of hard problems in small groups, facilitated by the workshop leader and the undergraduate assistants.

During the supplementary workshop, students work on a problem list of hard problems in small groups, facilitated by the workshop leader and one or more undergraduate assistants.
